The Distillery – Winery Th. Vasilakis & Sons SA is a traditional family-owned Corfiot Company founded in 1960 by Theodore Vassilakis and has as a brand name the “Corfiot Lady”. The company’s factory manufactures and bottles traditional Kum quat liqueurs, a wide variety of liqueurs produced with a special procedury and are exclusively available in Vasilakis Distilleries, ouzo as well as several different wine labels. The products of the company include all the traditional sweets such as mandoles – mandolato – loukoumi, as well as extra virgin olive oil and a number of other products.

Mr. Theodoros Vassilakis today declares a friend of trade and despite having worked over 50 years in the field, he has the same passion and enthusiasm for work and creation as when he started. He believes he knows his work well and does not enriching his knowledge on distillery, wine making, and marketing.

Besides his professional activities, his two grandchildren, who may become successors of his vision, but also his wife, who, although used to be a teacher, dedicated herself to the family business, have a very important role in his life.

1959

Theodoros Vasilakis starts his “journey to entepreneurship” by opening a small store with dry nuts & sweets, in the center of Corfu Town, in San Rocco area.

1960 – 1961

During 1960 – 1961 he opens a store in Athens, which is his base in order to deliver his products all over Greece. Alongside he gets his first distillery licence, for kum quat, and he opens his first small distillery lab.

1966

The distillery – winery factory is built, in the current position. The route towards development is not easy, it is full of financial and other difficulties, but the love and the passion for work overcomes them.

1980

Theodoros Vassilakis extends his business to Cephalonia, creating Vassilakis Vineyards and the corresponding winery. There are cultivated and produced labels from well-known varieties such as Robola, Moschato, Mavrodaphne, and some more special labels such as Protogonos and Grovino.

1990

In 1990, Theodoros Vassilakis opens a new store in Achilleion, Corfu, which initially works as an exhibition and cellar. Later and until today it also works as a snack – bar, inside a beautifully landscaped garden.

2000

Koum Qouat liqueurs go beyond Corfu’s narrow borders. The first exports begin, mainly in the Netherlands and in Germany.

Today

Today the Distillery – Winery Theodoros Vassilakis & Sons continues its more than 50 years journey, constantly creating new products such as crystallized alcoholic beverages (kum quat & vodka), and a number of special liqueurs like Greek Coffee & Bitter.
