The Vassilakis Distillery – Winery in Kefalonia was renovated in May 2018 and operates as an exhibition of wines, alcoholic beverages & traditional products of the Ionian Islands, all produced with the love and devotion of the Vassilakis family.
The area for many years functioned as a traditional winery.
The winery is located in Valsamata village, in Omala valley, very close to Agios Gerasimos Monastery, just 12 km away from Argostoli, the island’s capital. It is also next to the old village Valsamata, on of Kefallonia’s hidden diamonds.
The Omalos Valley is at the foot of the imposing natural park of Mount Ainos, a region that is generally of great cultural interest. In this area are the mountain vineyards of the Vassilakis family, the most famous variety of which is the “robola”.
“Robola” is a grape variety that holds a prominent position in Greek vineyards, it gives wine that has been identified with Kefalonia and rightly has made our island known all over the world.
